Merry Christmas!

Woo Hoo! I've had a good day so far. Note-worthy gifts include, awesome nail polish, Under Armour, and a new monitor! Woo hoo!

Well, enjoy your day and have an awesome holiday.

Beginning of a Vacation

We got to Wichita around 6:30 yesterday. We had burnt steak for dinner and while turning the burnt steak, I burnt my hand. Excellent.

Today we are gonna go shopping and eat something (hopefully). I am really hungry and would love to eat some food. I must be patient. Waiting for 4 other people in the same house to get ready takes longer than just Shannon waiting for me to. :)

Here is a cool picture of the sunset that Shannon took while we were driving up here.

12.21.2005

Cox, how I love thee

But sadly, they are now Hobnob's. Yeah, Cox Brothers BBQ is Hobnob's. So sad. Cox is the best bbq I've ever had. It is a local place to Manhattan and I'm really sad its leaving. We ate their tonight and I got the BBQ Nachos, like normal. They are so good. It is sad that they are leaving.

12.20.2005

Some Notes

First. I'm giving you links to fun provided by others.
  • Shannon has found Bikini Calculus! Yes. This is very fun and quite the link for the Math Ninja.
  • Crunch has found a couple of links, including an awesome old lady.
If you've got some time, they are fun.

Second. I only have 1 day of school left! Woo hoo.

Third. Here is a picture of our Christmas tree to complete the post from ago. You can't tell from the picture, but it has dark purple, olive green, and bronze balls on it and cool copper ribbon. Looks good I think.

12.19.2005

2 Days!

And then I'm half-way done with my last year of teaching! Woohoo! Some of the students are great. I mean really, great. But some of them just drive me nuts. If I could pick and choose who stayed and who left, I would be set. But, alas. That can not be done.

Tomorrow is the Secret Santa Breakfast. I need to get there at 7 am. So we have to leave at 6:30! ouch. Well, I need to make the delish French Sticks for the breakfast. They are soooo good!

12.17.2005

2 of Diamonds

Yep. I just guessed the card. It was a 2 of diamonds. Cool.

It is Snowing

And I went to get my contacts from the eye doctors. There is like...3-4 inches and it's still coming down. yay.

Falling With Grace by Plunge

Amazon.com: Falling With Grace: Music: Plunge

Dude. Jayme used to listen to this stuff. I don't know if it reminds her of Alberto, but it doesn't for me and I like it. I was sad to hear she lost the CD. You can listen to sample on Amazon. It is cool 'cause it has a tuba, and that is what Jayme plays. Yay.

Kyo

One of our students is really depressed and just came to our team around Thanksgiving. He has been doing no work and, just like a lump, sits there in class. Well we met with his mom and now I've been making an effort to notice him and be extra polite/nice. It's been working. He turned in everything I asked him for today and asked me about football on Tuesday and stuff like that. So today in CAT time (he's in my CAT), he comes up to ask me a question, and I forgot what it was. But he goes, "um, mom..." Then looked at me and started to laugh. It was pretty funny. I laughed for a while. It was nice to see him happy.

Then he's probably moving teams again...great...

Also, I went to a liquor store. Crazy. I had to get red wine and white wine for cooking. Hopefully what I got will work.

On to cooking and cleaning.

12.14.2005

Christmas Update

I've been updating my Amazon wish list a little. So if you still wanna buy me something :) you can check it out. Also, my Christmas blog has some other things listed on it.

Formula

So, one of my students asked me about a pattern. This one...

t H
0 10
1 12.5
2 17.5
3 25
4 35
5 47.5

So, it isn't linear, its quadratic. I thought the formula should be 2.5t^2+10=H....

12.13.2005

Orbs

Yesterday I got my pupils dilated. It was trippy. I did it two years ago too and this is what it looked like. We went to Panera and it was one of the most entertaining drives in a while. As Shannon drove, I took off my glasses and was amazed at the beauty of the orbs. Light was trying to escape from light cages all over. Crazy colors too...blue, green, red, orange, red-orange-blinky, ah...

12.09.2005

My Classroom

Ever wonder what my awesomely large classroom looks like? Well, your wonders are answered! Here i a picture of my classroom all decorated out. Lights all around the room, snowflakes on the wall, ah. It's nice. I also have a neat desk arrangement. The kids approve it too.

12.06.2005

O Foto Books

So today at school, one of the boys goes, "Hey, Mrs. D, at lunch, Kyle said you were hot." I was like, "Yes." and then just walked away. What do you say to that? I just pretended it was nothing and joked about it. Oh! Even better...

Yesterday at school in the morning I got a phone call so I stood up and talked on the phone. Then I hung up and sat down. But my butt was only about 1.5" over the chair and all I did was push it away and sit on the floor. Luckily no students were in my room, so I just laughed, and sat back down.

Buying a house in Manhattan costs way too much money. I've decided.

P.S. Jayme is pregnant!

12.03.2005

Very Red

My pedicure resulted in red toe-nails. See? It is very not me, but that's alright. It's fun.

I actually got a chance to paint today. I finished 2 Dryads and put together 2 Glade Riders. Good times. Aaron is even here painting with us!

12.02.2005

Quickie

Yesterday I went on a grant to American Academy of Cosmetology and Massage Therapy. It was kinda fun. I got a facial and a pedicure by freshmen cosmenauts for free! And then we ate at Buffalo Wild Wings for free (b/c the school paid!).

On another note, yay friday.

11.29.2005

Baby Dakoda

She was so cute! This is my sister's dog.

Our Snow

Woo hoo. This is the first snow of the season this year. Loads of it huh? Some people say that it used to snow in Kansas, enough to cover the grass. But now that I live here, it doesn't happen often.

11.28.2005

Holiday Pack of Soda Fun

Over Thanksgiving at my mom's house we tried the Jones' Soda holiday pack. Shannon has a funny video-heavy post of us trying such flavors as "Brussels Sprout with Prosciutto," "Cranberry Sauce," "Turkey and Gravy," "Wild Herb Stuffing," and "Pumpkin Pie." So instead of me doing the same, I'll just give you a link to his post. Oh, funny.

11.27.2005

Thanksgave

What a bunch of driving and food that was! We spent Tuesday night to Friday afternoon in Wichita. There were some cute dogs and family. This is my sister Jayme and her husband Jerry's new dog Amber. Isn't she cute!
We ate food, tried Jones soda's Holiday pack. Yeah, don't. It's bad. This is the brusselsprout soda. First off, its gross green. Secondly, it smelt buttery. Third, it tasted like puke. The smell was enough to make you wanna barf.
We visited my sister's new house! Cool huh? They just moved in about 2 weeks ago. It's good for their first house. It's got a flippin' huge garage for the size of the house! It is pretty cool.

Friday afternoon we drove to Garden and stayed until today. There we had more family and a dog. Gary (Shannon's dad) drove down with his girlfriend and their doggie. We ate more food and saw Andy (Shannon's friend since ago). It was fun. Here are the pictures to prove it!
Brendan just can't get him down.

Fire from the land of Andy.

The storm Shannon drove through and I slept through. Blizzards, tornados, wind, rain...ah, Kansas.

Other activities included: Purchasing a Game Cube, playing said console, Grandma scoring the winning goal on NHL Hitz on said console, El Charro, and fun.

11.22.2005

Domino Magic

Imagine a box of dominos with numbers from 0 to 6. Pull out any one domino and make sure it doesn't a blank or 0 on it. Follow these steps and I'll tell you what domino you had.
  1. Multiply one of the numbers by 5.
  2. Add 7 to the product.
  3. Multiply that sum by 2.
  4. Add the other number on the domino to the product.
  5. Tell me your number, but not your domino.

11.21.2005

Zang.

That's some steak. 66 ounces of it. Yep, Jenette finished off what Shannon and I couldn't. She's a big steak eater.

Really, Shannon, Jenette, and I took home oh, about 18 ounces each! Shannon and I had his left overs tonight for dinner and there is still mine in the fridge. If you want a lot of steak, that tastes pretty good, Montana Mike's isn't a bad deal.

Chocolate Milk?

We had a little bit of milk left, about 2/3 of a cup. Shanno's like "drink it." I'm like "no." He's like "you should drink it." I'm like "gimme the chocolate syrup." So I put some in the half gallon, and shook it. And shook it. And it ended with chocolate milk flavored foam. :D Fun.

Updates

I made some updates to my Christmas list. Some small stuff is all.

Awh yeah

There are only* 2 days this week. Only 2 days. Yesss

*If you read this before I fixed it, it is less funny now.

11.17.2005

Sunset Zoo-ed

Today I went on a Futures 2000 Grant with a student of mine to Sunset Zoological Park. We spent the whole day with the zoo keepers. We went into exhibits and dens, saw the commisary, and the student even got to feed one of the red pandas. Pretty neat. They have a new tiger and he has to be in quarentine for 30 days. We got to see him! He is pretty and big and when he was growling in the cinder-block room, you could feel it in the walls! Here are some pictures from today.

Here is one of the 2 hawks they have.

I almost forgot! These are monkey biscuits. They are okay to eat so we each got one. Yich. They are hard an monkey-like.

This is a red panda. He is really old. They said that he was also blind. Very cute! We got to be in the exhibit with him.

This is Brownie. He is the oldest Grizzly Bear in the USA. He is small for a grizzly though, only 500 lbs. He moved slow and just had dentist work so all he could eat was soft food.

11.16.2005

My Graphic Organizer

This is what my students did yesterday. Only their graphic organizer wasn't pretty with stars and stuff. It was on a sheet of notebook paper they ripped out of their notebook and drew random crooked circles on. Ah, the joy of finding something after you need it.

So, yeah...

Our internet has been way retarded lately. But, wonderful Shanno figured it out! Check it out! He is too cool.

Now it is back and just in time for me to do an on-line chat with my class tonight at 8:00pm. Perfect. Ah, school is school. Teaching is school. I just can't get away from it. School.

11.12.2005

What Color?

Shannon and I are getting into the Christmas spirit early. We have to decide what colors to use on our Christmas tree before we go to Garden so we can pick up the right decorations. Here are the trees we've had in the past.

Christmas 2004

Christmas 2003

Christmas 2002

And for Christmas 2001 (pre-digital camera) our tree was dark blue and silver (I think). So, we don't know what color(s) to use this year. Any suggestions?

Merry Christmas

Today Shannon and I worked on our Christmas cards some. To complete the holiday mood before I go to sleep, I added a post to Nicole's Christmas List. Right now I have only a few ideas. But I will add more. So if you wanna buy me a gift check it out. (Idea from Michelle and Shannon).

11.11.2005

I Hate It So

fingernail clipping that is. I usually can't stand when other clip their nails. I make Shannon close the door to the bathroom and to the bedroom when he clips. I can always seem to hear it. Jenette did it one time at hockey and today, I was sitting there in inservice and the consouler started it. I was like, gross. I got kinda all iew-y inside. Yich.

11.09.2005

Red Pen Again

Speaking of red pens. Yesterday morning some boys were working in the morning in our Language Arts room. One goes, "Man, I hate it when teachers use red pen. It's all over and it makes it look like you did bad!" His buddy goes, "You did do bad, you got a 38%!"

Oh, middle school.

Anyways. Just when I'm all thinking, eh, Jardine is decent. I can live here some more years. I come home today and it smells. Bad. It smells like our sink has backed up and just sat there. I turned the lights on and there are towels on the floor and the cabinet under the sink is open. Gross. I'm not really certain (haven't talke to Shann yet) but it looks like it backed up pretty bad and leaked all over our floor and under the cabinet. Gross.

I don't know. Sam's place is sounding pretty good...

11.08.2005

Grade-o-Rama

(I love Futurama)

I have a lot of work to grade for school, but a quick "hi-i'm-doin'-fine" is in order. So here it is...

Hi! I'm doin' fine!

Back to the red pen. (How horrid, a red pen.)

11.03.2005

Mmm...mold...

Two weeks ago (actually, 2 weeks and 1 day) we made roasted veggies for Game Nite. Well, tonight we made Hoagie Bake. I open the oven because I kinda smell something during the "preheat" phase.

I'm like, "What do you have in the oven, Shannon?"
He's like, "Nothing."
I'm like, "Really?"

Iew. It was the 2 week + 1 day old veggies. Yum.
If you look closely at the pan, there is a white blob. Mold.

Seminared

I got back from my first out-of-town seminar for work. It was a Marzano Classroom Instruction That Works thing. I don't have too much to say now except we passed a train with two engines and 123 cars!

11.01.2005

How 'Bout That Halloween

I didn't dress up. Unless you count a smelly, sweaty hockey player. But that would have happened no matter what last night. Plus, I didn't go door-to-door or to a party. Sad times. When your job/life doesn't allow for dressing up on Halloween. Sad times. (All the more reason not to do what I do.)

But my mom dressed up! You need to go check out her pictures! I must say, I am the reason she dressed as a zombie. But she is the one who pulled it off so well! In case you didn't know it, I have a "thing" for zombies (pirate zombies in particular). I was so happy she did such a good/ugly job with it! Yay Mom!

Dang. Today I was at work from 7:10 am to 8:00 pm! Ouch, almost 13 hours. Sigh. Tomorrow and Thursday I go to a seminar in Wichita. I had to make sub plans. Yich, that always takes me forever!

10.30.2005

Nebraska Hockey

That state called Nebraska, it sucks. Their motto of "Welcome to the good life" is crap. Their roads suck, the speed limit was slower, the people freakier, towns are lamer, and really there isn't anything good about it you can't find in Kansas. Anyways.

The KSU Inline team traveled to Omaha, NE to play a team. The floor sucked. It was very grippy and not fun to play on. My mom came as did Amber and family members from Aaron and some other team-mates. It was fun. We played okay. Good practice for this weekend (our first league games in St. Louis). Here are some pictures that Mom took.

Me doing the defense thing.

Shannon doing the offense thing.

Jenette, Sam, and Josh doing the larger defense thing.

And Aaron doing the warm-up (all the action shot of Aaron came out lousy).

10.28.2005

Friday! Yay!

No school tomorrow! Yay!

Tomorrow is the last home K-State game I will go to this year because of hockey. Then Sunday is a hockey game in Nebraska. Fun. My mom will be here for both. :) Yay!

So I gave a test in my class. I had one student get a 100% and one student get a 5%. I am leaving out the 0% because she cheated. What a range huh? That is what you get when you don't track students...hmm...yuck?

Onto more fun things than school.

10.27.2005

DUDE!

My mom has a blog! Cool beans. Okay. Off to dry-land I go! Avast!!

10.25.2005

No Fries!

I made a picture.

Quack, ne?

So, we were driving down this 2-way road (Claflin) when this SUV drove next to us. Okay. Then some dude starts to shout out the window and we look over. A duck. A duck was in the car with the two guys. The dude was shouting something about having a duck. Odd.

Weekend went well. Got to see my Aunt Diana who lives in New Jersey. She came out for my birthday. I got lots of gifts from people, my Aunt, Mom, and Jenette & Chris. I got lots of clothes, new shoes (my same ones, just new), some loose tea, a tea press, 13 hours of zombie movies, and an oodle of stuff from Shannon. He got me my dice, a cookie cookbook, a quilting calendar, an MC Escher daily calendar, a Sudoku book, a Wood Elf lord, Eternal Gaurd, and the whole series of Azumanga Daioh! (which I am currently watching). Great fun! So much fun stuff. :)

10.20.2005

The Thursday Ache

I had a head ache last Thursday and I had one today too. At first I thought maybe it was correlated to my fridge incident, but then I remembered it was just the Thursday Ache. Feels better now (thanks Tylenol).

Today's Highlights
  • During Student Lead Conferences (SLC's) (like parent-teacher conferences) I was asked to rate one of the students. The parent asked me to rate his daughter (sitting across from him) on a scale of 1-10 on interaction with peers and academic performance and teacher-interaction. I was like "great." She probably deserved like a 3, but I said 5. It was pretty accurate. But really, "rate my kid?"
  • During SLC's, I had another girl and her family come in. Opposite story. She is brilliant, and it was getting funny. They share their papers and she is like, "I got a 95% on this one." Next, "I got 20 out of 20 on this one." Then, "100% on this test." Followed by, "And another 100% on this one. What do you know?" You can guess how it proceeded. Quite funny. She is so smart! Not only does she ace her classes, she is reading way above grade level. Ah, I like smart kids...
  • Lastly (for now anyways) some kid (a middle school aged kid) peed in the library! Yep, urine on the ground. Gross
Game Nite was sparse, Nette, Chris, Shannon, and I. I made cookies out of the cookie cook book Shannon got me for my birthday. I like them. They are cake-like with apricot and chocolate on them. Fun.

On to the dish monster who lives on the metal surface of my white, magnetic "kitchen!"

10.18.2005

This Head of Mine

Holy Crap. I just whacked my head SO hard against the refrigerator door! OUCH! It is like throbbing. I have the worst luck with my head and things. I am constantly getting hit and falling and landing on it and the such. Poor head. ouch.

10.16.2005

Skirmished

Well, I wish the weekend was longer. I don't really want to go back to school tomorrow, but alas. I must. Eh...

Shannon and I played some Warhammer Skirmish today. It is kinda fun. Short, fast, good. Will definately be playing more.

My birthday is this Saturday, and Shannon has begun "Week of Birthday." Yesterday before we played Warhammer, I recieved my first gift: Undead Dice! Woo hoo! They are really cool lookings, see!? Today he gave me a quilting calander complete with patterns and a Sudoku booklet! Very fun.

10.15.2005

This one's for you, Chris

I completed one of my favorite puzzles ever. Spurs. To have a share in my pixel-puzzle fun, check out Conceptis Puzzles.

10.14.2005

Don't Worry

I'm not dead, although I am really exhausted. This week was busy and next week will be even worse because of Student Lead Confrences. They are like parent-teacher confrences, only the student leads them. So for 4 hours 3 times next week I have to do those. Sheesh. But eh. That's my job.

Besides that, not much going. Game night was fun last night. The food was just okay. I did make a fancy cheese cake. If I didn't over cook the crust, it would have been even better. It is an Apple Cheese Cake. Pretty good I thought.

10.09.2005

The Return of the Pirate Zombies

I've been working on my Vampire Counts army again. Being Halloween time, it is very fitting to make grave yards and zombies. I am putting the graceful Wood Elves on hold for a month. So these are the two most recent pirate zombies and also the fence I finished. Check out the left guys mop and tar bucket. I modeled them myself.

10.08.2005

Experimental Gameplay

Experimental Gameplay - Entertainment Technology Center, CMU

Check this place out for some games. I've played Flip Out! It's kinda fun. It does seem to just go on and on though...

The games have to be made in 7 or less days by one person. Some of them are good, some are hard to do. It is kinda neat though.

Well, we did beat KU

But that really doesn't say much about how we played today. This picture does...Shannon posted it as well, but really. Did you notice it was 4th and 45! Dang! We had some crappy penalties and some even crappier running plays. At one point in the game, we were averaging less than half a yard for each rushing attempt. Did we run in less after that? No. For some reason Snyder thinks that running the ball all the time will eventually work out for us. Well, it won't. We were lucky to win. Since our defense is good, we have a chance with our remaining games. But really, our offense is kinda sucky, espically the quarterbacks and offensive line.

Besides that, good day. We did win. Then we found out what happened with Maria. We tried to meet up with her and Nic, but we had no phone and couldn't find them. Luckily, they got themselves in and we ate dinner with them later. Also saw Baker and Annie at Panera. Baker works at JCHS and is a sponsor for the Ultimate club.

10.06.2005

*Sigh*

Just a cynical type frustrating day. I am kinda cranky, but trying not to be. I feel a lot better now. I had some food and drink and that usually helps. Low energy makes for a mean Nicole.

Well, on to my game and Game Nite prep.

10.04.2005

Oh Yeah.

Not only did we beat Chapman in the 7th grade game, we ran them over in the 8th grade game! The final score was 43-8. Chapman had 17 kids on the team, Junction had 46. Hmm. Of those 46, about 15 of them were ours and a lot of them "starters." It was fun. I got to hold signs some of our girls made and I got to cheer. One of the students I was sitting with took pictures. The one above is a kick-off returned for a touchdown. Woo hoo. Good times.

10.03.2005

Exhausted on Monday.

It's gonna be a long week. It's only Monday and I am pooped. I could just go to sleep and not wake up until 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. But alas, I can not. I have to wake up and be at car pool by 7:00am. Luckily, I get to stay about 3 hours later tomorrow! Woo hoo...sigh...

I am staying for the 8th grade football game. I hope we smash whoever we play, just because. Hey, maybe I'll take a camera with batteries and snap some pics...Crazy idea.

10.01.2005

The ABJ Show

This is The Famed. Groebe is singing and Mr. Dude* is playing the drums. He was SO happy! He is always smiling this big doofy grin. Kinda silly.

National Fire Theory opened, then The Famed, Stuck on Broadway, and Anything But Joey. Stuck on Broadway kinda stunk. Drew was drunker than he should have been. That also effected Anything But Joey (since he plays bass for them). Ah, but it was fun. The Famed was pretty good. They had thier opening and then when they played they had these red lights on and all of a sudden, nothing. They blew a fuse! How funny.

*not his actual name

Darn My Large Head!

A recent trip to Wal-mart found me in a groovy Batman mask. Sad thing is, my head was too big and I look like a retard! Nice mask though...

Movied

We just got back from watching Serenity. It was pretty good. Now we are gonna make some food and watch K-State whoop up on Oklahoma. WooHoo!

9.29.2005

Guess what landed in my eye?

For game night we made some weird foods. We made Creamed Onions, Sage Pork Chops, Smushed Apples and Sweet Potatoes, and Curried Apple Leek Soup. The soup was really weird. While I was making the sweet potatoes, I was mixing them up and *pop*! A chunk landed in my eye! It should have hurt, but it didn't.

School was fine. Nothing really interesting today. However, our Social Studies teacher gave a review on Monday. They students had to write about 8-10 paragraph long answers on loose-leaf paper. One boy, started his own work. The first 3 were done in sloppy pen. Then about 5 problems in, its not only in pencil, but neat and using really big words. Someone did it for him. Our teacher thinks it may be his mother. That is sad for many reasons, but the one different for this case is that his mom is teacher.

Oh, I hope we are wrong. But I doubt it.

Eh, not my problem. If I catch it, he gets a 0. As for, nothing, I hate cheating of any sort.

Too Good.

Yes, it indeed is cat litter. Described in detail by the plaid cow.

Looks like a mix of different types of cat litter. Mainly the recycled newspaper kind with a few of the crystals mixed in.

So, here is another. Maybe you'll have to think about it.

9.28.2005

'Ere we go!

Since that went really fast, here's another.
Okay, guess this one!

The Winner

Here is the original picture. It's banana's alright! Way to go Amber!

Guess this picture!

Here is a small section of a larger photo (since I can't think of anything else to post). Guess what it is! I will post the entire pic later on. This one shouldn't be too hard.

9.26.2005

It is sad.

I gave a retake today for the first quiz. We took the quiz last Tuesday and discussed it on Wednesday. That gives them 5 days to study and ask questions. Well, most of them did better. Only 5 (out of 27ish) scored worse, almost all jumped at least one letter grade. But I had one guy...

The problem was a chart. It had 3 columns: "Fraction," "Decimal," and "Power of Ten." The fraction might be 1/10. The decimal would then be 0.1 and the power of ten would be 10^-1. So during the retake today.

He: "I don't get this."
Me: "What?"
He: "The power of 10."
Me: "Well, you need to fill in the chart so that it is equivalent."

I walk away and let him think (burn, burn).
He: "Mrs. Dick, *points to "Power of Ten" column* did you teach us this?"

I almost cried.
Me: "Yes. We did it in class."

That was all I could say to not get mad/sad/etc.

I mean really, the retake! Not class, or even the first quiz, the freakin' RE-TAKE! Stinkin' football players. Grr...

9.25.2005

To show my appreciation

I have donated 5$ to Eyezmaze. Yeah. I beat GrowRPG (partly pictured at left). Fun times. I finished 3 more Glade Gaurd. After we matte them I will take a couple of pictures to show you. But, they look much like the first 3, but one of them in a musician.

9.24.2005

54-7

Sweet. K-State played a good game today. We had 658 yards of total offense, where as University of North Texas had 161. Of that 161, 71 of it came in their final drive, along with their only points in the game. Check this page out to see more stats. It was fun.

Maria was with. She went to a KU game 3 weeks ago, and this was her first K-State game. She said that K-State was much more fun to be at (an not just because she goes to K-State or that our football team won). She said we do things, it's entertaining, there are cheers. Overall: We care about the game. Its true, we have fun at the games, even when we don't win.

Afterwards, we went to Los Potrillos, the new Mexican restaruant. It was pretty good. Their tamales are very good and their chile rellones are pretty good too. I liked it a bunch.

K-S-U! Wildcats!

Woo hoo! Our second home football game is today. I really hope we do good and win. Don't screw up Webb. Don't screw up Webb. Don't screw up ...

9.23.2005

I forgot about this

Very fun place with groovy games. Tontie was a favorite for quite some time, but GrowCube is pretty fun too.

9.22.2005

Divine Proportions

Here is something rather mathy.

Chris
and Shannon both posted about it already, but it seems appropriate for me to.

This version of trigonometry uses quadrances and spreads instead of sines, cosines, tangents, etc. Quadrance is the distance between two points, squared. And spread is a way ot define how far apart two lines are using altitudes and ratios of quadrances. I didn't read all of the PDF, but it's interesting.

Thump

So, I'm driving back from carpool today. I stop at a stoplight, hear a tire screech and a faint thump. I wonder, "Hmm, did I just get hit?" Yes.

A cop just happened to be passing, so he stopped behind us. I got out, he got out. There was no damage at all, nothing. So we exchanged names got a cop's business card and drove off. It was really wierd. I could barely tell she hit me. What's funny, it was a purple car just like ours only Ford (ours is Mercury). Oh times.

Autumny

While washing dishes from Game Night. Shannon took some pictures of my Wood Elf Glade Riders. I really like these new horse models. They are very nice looking. Well. My Wood Elf army currently consists of 2 Glade Riders, 2 Dryads, and 3 Glade Gaurd. That is about 100 points. Hmm...must paint more...

Ah, Pretzels and Coke

It's been a busy time. When not at school, I'm grading, or doing laundry, or eating or sleeping. Sleeping is probably my favorite, but eating is a close second.

So my sister got on Facebook. And in Facebook she met up with some people from where we used to live. Turns out my old "crush" (how silly) dropped out of high school and is a bum (so says his younger brother). But what's really weird, is the younger brother is in college and wants to come visit us. Odd. Odd.

In other news, I'm tired still and my back is kinda sore.

Forrest Witches

My idea of Dryads is that they are really mean and quite evil. But they love the forrest more than anything and will do just about anything to protect it. I personally wouldn't want to fight them.

I finished these two yesterday. I like the one on the right better, she matches the trees really well. Speaking of trees, I made 6 of them (pictured above). They are on magnetic bases and the forrest they are standing on is a big hunk of metal. Good idea. Thank you Games Workshop!

All I Did

I've come home from the longest week of work yet. And slept for about 1.25 hours. Nice. My body fell into such deep slumber, that I am still (about 15 minutes later) waking up my wrist and elbow. Hmm. I am so tired.

Thank Goodness

I am so glad it's Friday and I don't have to deal with 8th graders until 10:20 on Monday! Yesss.

The Best Trip to Dillons

We made the usual Wednesday night trip for Game Night food and this time, for Shannon's seminar tomorrow as well. While there we took so photos.

The pineapple is special because Crunch bought some from Maui. Well, our Dillon's sells them. I don't know how much you paid Crunch, but I just thought it was funny to see them here! Maybe I'll have to get one if they're as good as you say!

The second photo is of the coolest rubber chicken I've ever seen at Dillon's. And let me tell you, I've seen like...one there. And this one is the coolest.
