Roses and Snow

Good news. Last night it was really nice out, like 66 degrees when we got home around 6pm.

So, I decided I should trim the roses. The bushes are getting very unruly and have started buds! I trimmed the one by the garage and started the one by the mail box. But then it got dark and I stopped.

Guess what we may have on Saturday? Snow.

I hope our roses don't die.

Another Productive Weekend

Well, maybe not as productive as others have been, but I think we got lots done.

We played 10 games of Necromunda! Our campaign is up to 120 battles (we started it over a year ago). It is so nice to have a place that you can just set up the board and let it stay out without being in the way. At Jardine, if the board was up, then that was all we could do (basically). Now, we have an entire house to do things in, even with the board up! Awesome. I love having a game room.

We made bread and manicotti. Mmm. Pretty tasty. And we had enough leftovers for at least 2 meals. Wonderful! I am also pretty lame at kneading. I make super-sticky dough, then can't knead it well. Shannon though is a big help. :) So the bread came out fine.

We took pictures of the snow. Friday it took us 45 minutes to get home from work and there was no traffic. There was plenty of ice and snow. Luckily* work let us go home early at 4:15. So we left right away, knowing our car can be rather slippy in such conditions. Well, it looked really nice and Shannon drove well (as he always does). So after making into our driveway (a real bonus), we shut the garage door and left the snow to be photographed and shoveled the next day. Then Saturday Shannon shoveled the driveway (took about 10 minutes) and I took some pictures. Just about every house in our development has icicles. It's kind of fun.

Also, I finished some crafts and started planning some new ones. :)

This weekend we will go to Wichita for a baby shower for Jenette and I! :) And I should get my embroidery machine.

Holy Crap! This one lady in our office has been coughing all morning, seriously for 50 minutes she's been coughing the entire time! Her son has bronchitis and I'd much rather she be home healing herself and him! I would be so pissed if I got sick. Maybe I should take a sick day. :)

*That "Luckily" really was sarcastic. Shannon and I didn't take lunch so we could leave an hour early to avoid some bad weather. So, getting to leave at 4:15 let us leave a whopping 15 minutes early. That just mean that I went an afternoon without lunch, running on Goldfish, a fruit leather strip, and Clementine.

Skype and Ice

Well, the ice storm hasn't been as bad as forecast. Everything is covered in ice, save the roads. They are slick, but not too bad. Now it is snowing... not sure if that will help much. But it looks nice.

Also, last night Shannon and I talked with Rhonda and Michelle on Skype, for free. :) Rhonda and Michelle planned on using Skype, but Shannon and I didn't have a webcam/mic that worked. So, we bought one and now we can chat with Michelle in England too!

Having Skype is easy, and I'm going to advocate having it for family members who want to see our baby but aren't in Tulsa (Mom and others). So, get yourself a webcam and a free Skype account and going the party!

No Hockey for Us

We were supposed to go to Manhattan for the alumni hockey game, but the weather made us not. There was a record breaking 6" of snow here in Tulsa on Saturday. That broke an 83 year old record.

We woke up on Saturday before it had snowed too much and went to Walmart for some things.

The roads weren't too bad at this point. Although Shannon drove, not me. So he may have a different opinion.

While home, we spent a lot of time by the fireplace drinking tea and just chilling. We made some yummy chicken soup and shepard's pie and just enjoyed the day. We did go for a walk after it had basically stopped snowing. It was great packing snow. The neighbor's made some forts in the cul-de-sac.

Here's our house, all snowy. Notice our new yard flag from Andy. Sweet.

The Weather

This Sunday is the K-State Hockey Alumni game in Junction City. It is at 10:00 at the Junction City Spin City rink. If your in the area, you should come!

Shannon and I plan to leave after work today. Drive to Wichita for some din-din with the family and then drive on up to Manhattan after eating. However, we may have to modify our weekend plans.

You see, on March 27th and 28th we are predicted to get some snow. Snow, less than a week before April. That doesn't sound like the Kansas/Oklahoma I know. More like Pennsylvania. A coworker in western OK said they already have about 1" on the ground. It's just been rainy and windy here in Tulsa, but it could be ugly. We will see how things are going to go after work today. I really wanna go play hockey in Junction, but I'm not gonna drive through lots of snow and ice the entire way to do so.

***UPDATE***

6 hours later the radar looks about at foreboding.

Keep on Giving

With our arrival to Wichita came, well more good times! Mom, Jayme, Nicole, Maria, and her boyfriend Matt were out taking advantage of some Black Friday sales when we got in. So, when they got home, we had some dinner and then played some games, some Wii game called Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party. Not so surprising. It was great fun, as usual. But we did get tired and then had to go to bed.

Saturday we woke up did some things. One of which was go to Target and get some food for us to eat and for Jayme to cook with. When we got back, Jayme did a lot of cooking, and we eventually did a lot of eating. But before that happened....

It snowed in Wichita too! So what did we do? Put Nicole in a snow suit and took her out to play.

There wasn't much snow, less than an inch, and it was already starting to melt by the time we got out there. But it was great. Nicole ate some snow. Mom and Nicole made a snowman. Nicole ate some snow. Jayme and Maria made snow angels with Nicole. Nicole ate some more snow. It was rather entertaining. See for yourself.

She just laid there and let her mommy move her appendages. It was very cute. Nicole could hardly walk right in the snow suit.

After the snow, we came in and eventually had dinner. Jayme made a cranberry turkey which was injected with some flavor and stuffed with some really sweet cranberry stuffing. She also made sweet potatoes with bananas. It was actually really good. But the best tasting thing was the turkey salad. She used left over turkey from real Thanksgiving and made this awesome tarragon turkey salad. It was very very good.

Eventually, we let our tummies settle and then had some dessert. Jayme (that little cook) made pumpkin pie from scratch, a chocolate filled chocolate cake, a blueberry cheesecake, and some amazing cranberry apples. They apples were the best dessert. They tasted great.

It was a good time. Saturday we played some games with Mom. Then Sunday we took some pictures for Mom of her three girls. We haven't done that since I was about 9. We eventually came home, with Maria packed in the back seat. Now there are two weeks and finals left of school. It's exciting and scary at the same time.

Winter Wonderland

It was about 70 degrees out on Wednesday of this week. It was so nice! Then Wednesday night, rumors of snow started. "I'll kick your shins if it snows tonight, Jason!" This was by far the best rumor.

Then it happened. Thursday morning around 4:30 am it started to snow. It was some of the best packing snow we have had all season. So, to celebrate this, Shannon and I took pictures.

By that evening, about 75% of the snow was already gone. Gotta love the KS weather.

Snow Fort

When I was walking home from school today, I noticed a stick piercing a piece of cardboard stuck into some snow. "flag." I thought that to myself. Then I noticed, wait...its a fort! So I took a pictured and continued the cold, but not quite freezing walk home. 1,800 steps baby.
