Shimmy or Shuffle?

On July 25th, Shannon and I were joined by Newgen and Michelle as we all went to a soccer game at Arrowhead. Manchester United's tour took them to Kansas City to play the Wizards. It was great fun (and hot). What made it even more fun is that KC won! Woot woot!


That trip started in Manhattan. Keagan and Cassidy dressed to match (sort of) and had fun playing on Cassidy's play mat. Keagan doesn't have one, but she really like Cassidy's! Mostly the mirror.


We also went to Manhattans' City Park. They recently redid it and added a water park you pay for with slides and wave pool and such. They also added a kiddie water park that is free. It has all sorts of sprinklers and water toys. Looks really fun. Keagan is a wee small to play there (and she was sleeping), but I did have Shannon put her feet in an old fountain. Keagan first yelled, then seemed to ... tolerate it?


Another thing worth mentioning... I need ideas for Halloween for Keagan. I am not good at remembering, so I'll use my blog and labels to help. Halloween idea for Keagan: MC Hammer (mostly cause it'd be fun to make baby parachute pants).

The Beginning of the Aunts and Uncles

Friday night Jayme, Charles, Maria, and Nikki came down from Wichita. We just hung out on Friday night, watched some Startles, or Star Worlds, or Star Wars. It was quite fun to watch with Nikki. She's now quite 4, and it was interesting to have her tell you about what was going on. :) She's such a fun kid and cute too!



Then Saturday we went to the Fox and Hound pub to watch the USA versus England World Cup game. It was packed and pretty fun. I'm glad we ended up tying instead of losing. :) Keagan was pretty good the whole time. Mostly just sleeping and then being in an alert wake state the rest of the time.


Saturday evening, me and my sisters went to Walmart to shop for dinner and Sunday's food. It was about 40$ for everything. So much cheaper to eat at home then eat out! We then came back and cooked some food, ate the food, and watched more Star Wars. Oh, and we went to the new prototype Quick Trip. Everyone got something fun. Shannon got me an iced hot cocoa and Maria got a horchata smoothie. :) Crazy.


Sunday (today), we made grilled fruit and waffles (just like with Mom). Yummy! It's so good. I didn't know that I'd enjoy grilled fruit as much as I do. Thanks Grill Masters cookbook! After some more Star Wars and some chillin', the siblings+ left. :( It was great to see them and spend some time with them. I wish we all lived closer, but maybe one day we will.


I had a nice time. Also, things are going smoother with Keagan. Each day we learn more about how to read her. And, she's getting SO much better at holding her head steady, especially when she's not sleepy.

Treasures Part 1

First of all. I've started work and its alright. Nothing too special. Almost all of my training these last three days has been reading books. And I actually have only ready about 1/10th of the listed things on the training sheet. Nice.

But in more fun news, I've been opening boxes from years ago and finding some awesome things. I wish to share some of these things with you. This is by no means all of the things I've found, just some more meaningful or entertaining ones. I've supplied a small bit on each piece as well. If I've messed up, I apologize. I have this problem with not really remembering events from my past. I know things happened, but I don't remember the details. If it weren't for pictures and accounts of the events from other people, I don't think I'd remember anything.

This is a wooden votive candle holder made for my by one of my sisters. And, thanks to my remagination, I don't know if it was Jayme or Maria. Since no one "signed" it, I can't just flip it over and see. But its all personalized with my name and some kanji. I think it was made around 2000?

Here is a little (like 1" diameter) clay pot that M.H. (or Maria) made for me also around '99-'00 time. Maria was on a kick for a while with making all sorts of little clay things. I was gifted with this fine pot.

This is not mine. No, I never played basketball for a team (this I do remember). This is Jayme's. Yes, Jayme. Jayme tired many sports in her day. While in Pennsylvania, Jayme tried soccer, softball (where she played outfield and pitched), basketball (she wasn't' really very good) (I seem to remember going to Scranton or something to watch her team play. I say her team because I think Jay played for like 2 minutes of the game, maybe...), and field hockey. She started out as not very great at field hockey, but by the end of the season, she was pretty good! She had a little stick and a jacket and it was pretty neat.

She also played some basketball in Garden (hence the KHMS outfit). I'm pretty sure she was supposed to give this back...

I have many more things to share with you. But I also have some other (house-y) things to do as well.

Shannobo

This last week Shannon and I spent some time with his dad, Gary. With a new world starting for us in about 2 weeks, we may not get the time to spent a week in Colorado anymore. So we made sure the trip was good. Friday we bought a Nintendo DS and Puzzle Quest and headed on out. We started with a long drive from Manhattan to Longmont accompanied by a tornado. You can kind of see it in this picture from my phone below.



But here is a more impressive video from someone else.

Saturday we went to a Colorado Rapids game. We would up with great seats and I got a nifty scarf.

Sunday we went to Colorado National Speedway for some good ol' races. That was fun, as it usually is. We saw a 31 car super-stock race. It was full of LTD-goodness.

Monday, Memorial Day, we headed to Boulder for some art show and looked around a lot of neat things, in the rain. But we ended the day with fabulous Japanese food and sushi from Ai Steakhouse and Sushi.

Tuesday we went to Estes Park. Not much new there. Just pretty, expensive things. Oh! Gary got me a pocket knife. It's a good little knife for me to keep in my purse and use when needed. Thanks!


Wednesday, I went to Casa Bonita for the first time. I was impressed. I can see how it would be the most rockin' place when you're little. I mean, I'm 26 and still thought it was pretty neat. It reminded me a lot of how older parts of Disney World are.


Thursday I did something I haven't done in about 15 years. I shot a rifle. And something I've never done, I shot a pistol (4 different ones actually). Gary took Shannon and I shooting at his gun club in the morning and it was a lot of fun!


We left for Garden on Thursday as well. No tornadoes on that trip.

Friday is today and we made some strawberry spinach salad for dinner, yummers. On to the last 2 weeks of freedom before we start our jobs. Wow. No more school...
